With the launch of the next highly anticipated Legend of Zelda game on the near horizon, Nintendo is pulling out all the stops to ensure it has the most exciting rollout possible.
The new Tears of the Kingdom inspired Nintendo Switch OLED is only a start, as the Japanese gaming firm is also launching similarly-designed peripherals, as well, like a Switch Pro controller and carrying case.
Nintendo's new Switch OLED, which features gold etchings across the dock and all-gold joysticks with designs taken straight from the upcoming game, will come in at $360, only $10 less than the launch price of the original OLED.
It's officially hitting stores on April 28th, just two weeks ahead of the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom release date. Unfortunately, the video game is sold separately, but for excited collectors, it's a worthwhile investment.
The Ninentdo Switch OLED first debuted in 2021 to exemplary acclaim, given a slew of upgraded features beyond the screen and namesake. Like its original form, the Tears of the Kingdom OLED with also sport said hardware enhancements, including a 7-inch screen, 64GB of expandable storage, longer battery life, and a wider rear kickstand.
While it doesn't include any major internal upgrades, the Tears of the Kingdom OLED is still a spectacular new addition to Nintendo's lineup, which was last updated with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and those games' own stylized hardware.
Those interested can also pair the new OLED with the Pro controller and carrying case featuring similar designs taken from Tears of the Kingdom. The Pro controller will cost $75, while the carrying case will be $25, both launching on the same day as the game itself, May 12th, 2023.
Nintendo also released some exciting gameplay footage of Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom led by series producer Eiji Aonuma, showing off impressive new mechanics, areas, and the return of weapon durability.
New abilities added to the game include Fuse, which allows Link to create new weapons by sticking objects together, Ultrahand, which lets players essentially build various crafts to get around faster, and Ascend, which sends players to the top of mountains at the click of a button.
The excitement for the next Legend of the Zelda experience is at an all-time high and will only expand as the game's release draws near. Tears of the Kingdom is set to draw players back into the fantastical world as Link this coming May 12th, only on Nintendo Switch.
