Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced that tweets from unverified accounts won't show up anymore in the "For You" feed as part of changes for the blue checkmark program.
The tech boss says that the new policy will be effective beginning on April 15.
Unverified Twitter Accounts No Longer on 'For You' Feed
According to a report by Mashable, Musk has made a new change to its Twitter Blue subscription for users. Starting next month, only the verified accounts will appear on the platform's "For You" page. This means that we won't see any posts from unverified users on the algorithmic feed.
Twitter Blue subscribers will gain an advantage over non-subscribers through recommended tweets. This suggests more visibility for people who want to gain more followers, especially those who are social media content creators, influencers, and artists.
Ability to Vote in Poll For Verified Users
In another story by Macrumors, the Twitter chief has confirmed that the inclusion of the blue verified badge does not only mean that the tweets from subscribers will pop out in the feed.
As the news site states, Twitter also sees this as an effective method to stop the swarming of AI bots on the microblogging site.
Elon Musk also says that having a Twitter Blue check mark will mean that you can vote in polls on Twitter. Having no verification might only lead to a "hopeless losing battle," as the billionaire claims.
Getting a blue mark tick is made easier since all you have to do is to pay $8 per month. This is a great help if you want to launch unique content for your followers. However, the same subscription is also often the reason why bots are widespread all over the platform.
Impersonation Among Twitter Blue Subscribers
In just a month after its launch, Twitter saw a surge of Twitter Blue subscribers who impersonate celebrities, internet stars, businesses, and other popular people.
To avoid this issue, aspiring Twitter Blue subscribers should first verify their account by entering their phone number. Of course, this will require a thorough review to screen the potential users who will only get it to use AI bots.
With this, the "For You" tab will only get filled with verified accounts.
Since Musk became the Twitter CEO, the internet has gone crazier each time a tweet about him shows up. It's either about bugs, controversies, crypto predictions, and more. While removing the legacy checkmarks is quite good, it can also be an outlet for misinformation in the wrong hands.

$20 Billion Loss on Twitter
According to Investopedia, Elon Musk sees a good profitability performance on Twitter as early as Q2 2023.
The report says that Twitter is worth $20 billion, according to the leaked memo. The billion-dollar loss might be a result of "costly" legal battles that Musk and his team encountered for the past months.
