Apple's MacGPT app, which natively brings artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to MacBook and other Mac users, just got its new update.
Version 3.0 brings a great deal of handy features right off the bat. Not to mention that it now supports integration for the all-new ChatGPT-4.
Apple's MacBook AI Chat, MacGPT, New Update Rolls Out
If you missed out on it, Tech Radar reports that MacGPT is a native app for Apple macOS users, which allows them to quickly access the AI chatbot from the MacBooks. They could trigger it straight from the menu bar of their laptops.
According to BGR, A developer, Jordi Bruin, made the native app for Apple macOS possible. It essentially brought the chatbot of OpenAI to the iconic menu bar of Mac devices. So instead of opening your web browser, such as Google Chrome or Safari, and visiting the OpenIA website, MacGPT loads ChatGPT in a few clicks.
It still uses a web browser, but it is way easier to access. It's more like a shortcut.
It sure is a handy option for those who need to access the popular AI tool right away. And this time, the MacGPT app is rolling out its new update, version 3.0.
ChatGPT 4 Integration
The MacGPT 3.0 update finally brings ChatGPT-4 integration. So with that, it now offers the new features that the latest version of the OpenAI chatbot brings to the table.
For instance, it now lets users use images when talking to the AI chatbot. Basically, it can now see images, expanding from the previous text-only version. On top of that, OpenAI touts that the GPT-4 makes it smarter than the older model.
Tech Radar further notes that the GPT-4 integration also brings virtual assistant support for visually impaired users.
New Features for MacGPT
But apart from what the new ChatGPT-4 brings, the 3.0 update of the native macOS app brings other nifty features as well.
The latest update of MacGPT brings new functionality, aptly called "Global." It now lets users access the AI chatbot anywhere on their Mac using a text field in the middle of the screen. It similarly works like the built-in Spotlight feature or the third-party Alfred app.
The other new feature is known as "Inline." Like Global, it also makes ChatGPT pretty easy to access. But this one, brings the AI tool into the text fields of its users, giving them the option to type trigger words or phrases to start using the chatbot.
