The March 2023 Developer Update for "Dead by Daylight" is quite impactful and signals potential changes to how players approach the game. From visual terror radius to automatic Bloodweb purchases, from perk and healing updates to changes to the way bright light interacts with killers and objects, this massive update has left players across the globe buzzing about what it will mean for the future of the horror game.
New Visual Terror Radius Toggle Feature Added to 'Dead by Daylight' Across All Platforms
According to the story by Ginx.tv, players will benefit from updates to the Bloodweb, making it easier to quickly buy add-ons, items, and perks. This includes two new buttons, one that buys all items in a straight line in the Bloodweb and another automatic purchase button that will purchase items until the level is completely purchased.
In addition to easing the process of buying perks and add-ons, players can now toggle a new visual terror radius on or off in-game settings. This was first included in "Dead by Daylight" Mobile but has now been added to the other platforms, aiming to improve the game's accessibility, with more details highlighted in an article by Comic Book.
The Power of Visual Terror and Increased Healing Mechanics
The visual terror radius will enable players to see their heartbeat visually when inside the killer's terror radius, and intensity will increase when the killer is closer. In addition, survivors can see the lullaby of killers, like The Huntress, via a haze on their chest. Another significant change included in this update is Healing.
The Developer Update added substantial changes to healing mechanics involving a slower healing speed of 24 seconds, compared to the standard 16 seconds, and Med-kits that now hold 24 charges by default.
Updates to Gearhead, Dead Hard, Call of Brine and Other Perks
Increasing rare items only increases the player's altruistic healing speed. There are perk updates: Boon: Circle of Healing (Mikaela Reid), Overcharge (The Doctor), Call Of Brine (The Onryo), Dead Hard (David King), Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist), Overzealous (Haddie Kaur), Gearhead (Deathslinger), as seen on SteamPowered.
All have been updated and reworked as to how they are used to ensure a better overall player experience. There was also an interesting update when it came to flashlights. In the past, survivors could use flashlights to stun the Wraith out of his cloak, burn away the Hag's traps, destroy

A Major Update to 'Dead by Daylight': No More Flashlights for Killer Interactions
The Artist's birds, etc. With this update, flashlights are no longer used for killer interactions - they can only stun or blind the killer. If a survivor wants to affect the Hag's traps, for example, they can do so with a Wipe, which takes more time than previously done but can still be done without a flashlight.
This was a huge update for "Dead By Daylight," from the ease of Bloodweb purchases, visual terror radius, healing changes, and perk updates to the lack of flashlights for killer interactions. It's certain these changes will capsize how the game is played and strategized. Time will tell how this all plays out.
