The DNA found in Ludwig Van Beethoven's hair provides clues as to what was the cause of death that befell the late music composer on his untimely death back in 1827. At the time, the German composer was 56 and there were several rulings as to what his cause of death was, but it remained unclear for a long time, until now.
His death marked the end of a remarkable life, filled with musical achievements and personal struggles, making him one of the most influential and renowned composers until today.

A study published in Current Biology used the hair of the long-deceased music composer, Ludwig van Beethoven, to determine his cause of death, by tracing the DNA and other information available on its strands.
The researchers were able to point to a genetic risk of liver disease and a hepatitis B infection which they discovered via the hair which the researchers cleaned and processed for study. They claimed that this was most likely what caused the end of Beethoven's life in the early 1800s, amidst his success in the many compositions he made.
According to AP News, the German composer wanted doctors and researchers to know the cause of his death and health problems for the years to come, after his death.
This coming March 26 is the death anniversary of the late composer, nearing 200 years since his final moments in 1827.
