AP News reported that Twitter-verified accounts are now spreading Pro-Russian tweets, misinformation, and propaganda amidst the recent disaster of a train derailment in Ohio. The tweets allegedly claimed significant health concerns and dangers in the area, among the many alarming claims by these verified accounts.

Not only that, but anti-American government tweets are also popping up, with claims that the Biden administration was faster to respond to Ukraine's call for help compared to its fellow Americans.

The Pro-Russia tweets are now spreading like wildfire, putting massive criticism and idea into the public's minds, leveraging their Twitter verified status, made possible by the $8 subscription.

Ohio Train Disaster: Still Not Safe from Recent Toxic Spill

The anti-government tweets are pouring in, and have significant claims on the situation over in Ohio, with the disaster that took place 44 days ago.

The Ohio Train disaster from its derailment significantly affected the public's drinking water due to its toxic spill as per the tweets. Reports and statements from West Virginia claim that it is safe and unharmed.

The case is still open and the government is still looking for facts behind what happened, to help Ohio and the country move forward from this devastating event.

Twitter Verification and its Massive Effect

When Elon Musk announced the new changes on Twitter, one of the very firsts is a monthly subscription for the blue checkmark verification badges that could be received by anyone who can pay. Since then, Twitter has seen chaos for this change, as people started to create parody accounts and pretend like famous personalities to spread propaganda or misinformation.

Twitter 2.0 then added many safeguards to this problem, adding more labels and designations on an account and its tweets to further confirm its identity or position.

This is highly effective for government officials and famous accounts who got impersonated by anonymous people, using their names and images to appear like another person.

The spread of misinformation and false news on the internet became a problem on Twitter, until now.

This same problem is highly affecting the public on their perception of the Ohio Train disaster which took place only recently, with many spreading propaganda content against the US government. Additionally, people compare the actions taken to help Ukraine's struggles with Ohio, mostly centering on Pro-Russia tweets empowered by the blue checkmark badges that people believe.
