Ticketmaster confirmed it will conduct The Cure refunds after the band's main vocalist, Robert Smith, complained about unreasonable high fees.
"I AM AS SICKENED AS YOU ALL ARE BY TODAY'S TICKETMASTER 'FEES' DEBACLE," angrily said Smith via his official Twitter post.
He added that they can't limit the fees of their concert tickets on the Ticketmaster platform.
The musician further stated that they already asked Ticketmaster how the exorbitant fees are justified. Because of this ruckus, Ticketmaster decided to refund the unduly high fees to The Cure fans.
Ticketmaster to Offer The Cure Refunds
According to Business Insider's latest report, Robert Smith was the one who confirmed The Cure refunds.
The singer announced that all verified fan accounts for other ticket price transactions will receive a $5 refund each.
"IF YOU ALREADY BOUGHT A TICKET YOU WILL GET AN AUTOMATIC REFUND; ALL TICKETS ON SALE TOMORROW WILL INCUR LOWER FEES," said the vocalist.
Aside from this, Smith also confirmed that Ticketmaster will offer a $10 refund per ticket to all verified fan accounts for the lowest ticket price transactions.
Robert explained that Ticketmaster decided to do this as a gesture of goodwill.
Why The Cure Chooses Ticketmaster
On Wednesday, Mar. 15, Robert Smith explained that they chose Ticketmaster so that their tickets will not be affected by scalping.
However, they don't want their tickets to be affected by the platform's dynamic pricing or Platinum ticket schemes.
The Cure priced some of their tickets around $20. However, when they are sold via Ticketmaster, their prices reached over $40.
These cost adjustments happened because of various fees; a $10 facility charge, an $11.65 service fee, and a $5.50 processing fee.
