Just imagine. You are going home after purchasing the Xbox Series X console. After that, you open the package and start setting it up so you can play your favorite games.

However, instead of seeing the Xbox loading screen, you can see is a black screen. This issue also happens when installing a system update or returning to Home. If your console suffers from this problem, here's why it happens and solutions you can try.

How to Fix Xbox Series X Black Screen Bug?

According to Slash Gear, the Xbox Series X black screen issue happens because of various reasons. These include the following:

  • The connection is faulty.
  • The power supply unit is faulty.
  • The console is overheating.
  • The console has a firmware update bug.

Luckily, Laptop Mag provided some solutions that are worth the try. The first two methods will work if the black screen is caused by your display.

The last two methods are efficient if the issue is directly on your Xbox Series X.

1. Check if the HDMI connection is faulty. Sometimes, the Xbox Series X black screen issue can be fixed by replacing your HDMI cable.

2. Check if the TV or monitor is working properly. Most of the time, the black screen problem appears because the TV or monitor is not compatible or has issues.

3. Try power cycling your Xbox Series X. You can do this by following this fix route: Press and hold the power button > remove the power cable > and reconnect the power cable.

4. Reset your Xbox Series X's video resolution. You can do this by following this fix route: Eject the button to remove any disc > press the power button for 10 seconds > press and hold the power button and eject buttons until you hear a beep.

Other Black Screen Fixes to Try

Aside from the four methods mentioned above, here are other basic troubleshooting methods you can rely on.

  • Try restarting your Xbox Series X.
  • Try changing the Xbox display settings.
  • Try disconnecting any peripherals.
  • Try performing an offline system update.
  • Try changing the video mode.
