Zipline P2 Zip: New Machine for Precise Drone Delivery Debuts, to Bring Packages Better and Quieter

This smaller drone will ride shotgun and leave the package right at your doorstep.

In a bid to improve drone deliveries to bring a more precise and quieter approach to dropping off packages at one's doorstep, Zipline unveils the latest autonomous flying tech called the P2 Zip. This drone will ride shotgun with the main drone of the company that would go around the metro for its delivery area, and the P2 Zip will eject from underneath.

The two-step process of this drone delivery will ensure a precise and quieter experience, says Zipline, to revolutionize its logistics using these autonomous robots.

Zipline unveiled its latest development in the drone industry called the Platform 2, a.k.a. the P2 Zip, which is part of its autonomous delivery fleet to bring orders to people's doorstep. Instead of one drone to do all of the biddings, the P2 Zip would eject from underneath Zipline's main drone (Zip), and bring a faster, quieter, and more precise dropoff to residential areas.

The main Zip would fly over a drop-off destination and over at around 300 feet above, while the P2 Zip would drop down and quietly maneuver to the right location.

As per the company's video, the entire process is autonomous, where users may order through their smartphones and receive notifications when it is nearby. The Zip and P2 Zip would then make their way to the right address to bring the package and leave it for the owner.

"Our new service is changing that and will finally make deliveries work for you and around your schedule. We have built the closest thing to teleportation ever created - a smooth, ultrafast, convenient, and truly magical autonomous logistics system that serves all people equally, wherever they are," said Keller Rinaudo Cliffton, co-founder, and CEO of Zipline.

The company is also centering on clean energy to power its drones, to help the planet achieve carbon neutrality.

Zipline aims to test its P1 and P2 Zips in the future, delivering packages together to come shortly.

Drones for Delivering Packages

Logistics efforts and companies are now looking for a better autonomous delivery system to bring small to medium packages to those that are ordered, utilizing drones to bring packages from point A to point B.

There is a growing drone fleet for delivery, and among those who are investing in this is Amazon, with its "Prime Air" subsidiary that is now operational in California and Texas.

There is also a startup in the European Union that recently applied and got approved for its cargo freight drone delivery capabilities in the world, with Black Swan. The company aims to be the first "cargo drone airline" in the world, with massive capabilities including a 770-pound payload and a 1,550 mile-range coming soon for the region.

Drone deliveries may only be seen efficiently in sci-fi movies, but it is a reality now, with many companies including one from Big Tech already looking to expand more of this service for all.

Zipline is introducing the world to a new breed of a delivery system, with two drones to do its bidding that would streamline the process with the P2 Zip.
