Apple Studio Display gets its fourth firmware beta update for version 16.4, alongside the fourth release for the beta counterparts of iOS 16.4 and macOS Venture 13.3.
With that, Mac users running the beta version of macOS may now get their hands on the latest firmware release for the Studio Display.
Apple Studio Display Firmware Update 16.4 Beta 4 is Now Available
The Cupertino giant introduced its Studio Display nearly a year ago when it debuted last March 2022, as per Mac Rumors. It flaunted a 5K retina display that supports a stunning 5120 x 2880 resolution.
However, it sports a hefty price tag, starting at a staggering $1,599. But according to Engadget, it hit its lowest pricing before January ended, retailing for only $1,300.
And now, Apple continues to support its 5K monitor with constant beta firmware updates.
Apple Insider notes that the first-ever firmware update for the Studio Display saw the light of day last February 18. Shortly after that, a new beta software started rolling out last March 2. And besides that, the tech giant dished out the third beta on March 9.
This time, the fourth beta for version 16.4 has arrived, allowing Studio Display users to get their hands on it.
Here's What's New
As of writing, Apple has yet to disclose what the latest Studio Display beta firmware update brings to the table.
Although the Cupertino firm consistently tells us what its new iOS or macOS updates offer, the tech giant usually does this. It skips releasing any release notes for the firmware updates of its devices, such as the AirTags and AirPods.
So for now, it is unclear what the fourth beta actually provides. But these updates typically come with a few bug fixes and security patches. It also improves overall stability and performance.
In some cases, new firmware updates expand support to newer devices. For instance, the Apple iOS 16.3 extended support to the all-new HomePod, aside from the new features and additional refinements.
With rumors suggesting a new Mac Pro, the beta update may likely offer support for the upcoming device.
