TikTok introduced this new feature after speculations claiming its algorithm is being used to push misaligned information and propaganda to specific audiences arose.

According to Search Engine Journal's latest report, rumors claimed that TikTok's Chinese version, Douyin, offers more educational and patriotic content.

On the other hand, the TikTok version available in the U.S. and other countries is different. Because of this, the app decided to work on the new STEM Feed feature.
This new enhancement is a third feed that can be accessed alongside the For You and Following feeds, as reported by The Verge.
To ensure that all the content on the STEM Feed doesn't contain fake information, TikTok said that videos will need to pass additional layers of vetting by partner organizations before they can appear on the new feed.
The new TikTok STEM Feed is expected to arrive in the United States before March ends.

The new TikTok STEM Feed will feature videos that hashtags related to STEM; #STEM, #Science, #Technology, etc. These educational videos will be reviewed by the Common Sense Networks before they can appear on the new STEM Feed.
The Common Sense Networks will ensure that they are not harmful to users' emotional, social, or cognitive development.
