The new game to the famous Nintendo franchise, Zelda, is coming soon, but one of the most controversial things about this new title is its price tag, higher than the usual cost of Switch games. "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" will debut with a $70 price tag, and this is the retail of what Nintendo has to offer for gamers.
However, Nintendo of America boss, Doug Bowser defends this new pricing, saying that the game will make up for its costs, as it is an "immersive experience" for all.
'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' Retails for $70
Nintendo's online store reveals the new price tag of this latest title in the "Zelda" franchise, with "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" retailing $69.99. Of course, while this is enough for other platforms like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, some find it unreasonable for the portable console of Switch.
This came as a massive shock to all, as most new releases from Nintendo retail at around $59.99, and a $10 difference is massive for them.
Nintendo Boss claims 'Tears of the Kingdom' is Worth To Wait
According to Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser (via AP), the new "Zelda" game centers on a more immersive experience where gamers can explore more of the kingdom and its locations.
Players will have the freedom to roam through vast landscapes and discover hidden secrets and treasures. Bowser promised a more immersive experience in the "Legend of Zelda" universe.
In addition to its open-world gameplay, "Tears of the Kingdom" will also feature an updated combat system. The combat system is designed to be challenging but rewarding, with a focus on strategic thinking and timing.
'The Legend of Zelda' Franchise
The last main franchise game from "The Legend of Zelda" was the "Breath of the Wild" title which Nintendo Switch gamers found to be one of the top games from the series since its release in 2017. However, fans were awaiting the sequel to this title, one that is directly continuing the story and not a prequel like its last release, "Hyrule Warriors."
It was a long wait for gamers, fishing for anything pointing to "Breath of the Wild 2" information that would give them clues to the next title from Nintendo, particularly as the "Zelda" franchise highly evolved since its initial releases.
Still, gamers get a chance to explore Hyrule and other places in the game, and while they feel like it was not enough with "Breath of the Wild," there will be another chance to immerse themselves in the upcoming "Tears of the Kingdom."
With its open-world gameplay, updated combat system, and rich storytelling, it will surely be a hit with longtime fans and franchise newcomers. Fans will have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on it, but the anticipation is already building for what promises to be one of the year's biggest games.
