The Journey to Founding Revnue
Sunny Sharma, one of Revnue's Co-Founders and the company's Chief Executive Officer, immigrated from India to the US when he was 26 years old-and has worked in several tech companies. He started out working on software development, progressing to eventually lead full scale digital transformations. After leaving Microsoft, he moved to Silicon Valley to take on younger, mid-scale, and mid-market organizations. He worked with companies to help assess their technology costs and strategies, giving them direction on how to improve them. Next, he worked at a private equity firm called Daily Mail and General Trust in London that had a portfolio company in Silicon Valley named Risk Management Solutions.
Sunny said, "One of the very first things that I used to do was I had to expose all of the costs in my group which was almost $4 million. My first question to everybody was where are all the contracts? Do we know what we have signed with other financials behind these contracts and what we have transacted? Meaning what services and assets did we buy and what are the financials behind those because that informs my strategy. That's the raw data I needed to make a decision."
He continued, "Everybody was managing contracts in Excel spreadsheets, had contracts in documents in an email box or put them in random places. That problem persisted for almost 15 years of my experience. That hypothesis then became a solution last year as I was looking at what to do next. Should I step into another CIO role or should I go and solve this problem. How do I make contract management easier for everybody on the planet? How do I reduce the complexity around it and give businesses the right set of data and solutions?"
Developing Revnue
Sunny decided to leave his corporate role in October of 2020 to build Revnue. As part of this journey, Sunny brought in John Cortez to join as Revnue's Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer. John Cortez is a veteran in the technology industry with more than 20 years of experience at companies such as Microsoft, Warner Bros, and VMware. Sunny and John began forming a team of developers in January of 2021 and launched Revnue commercially in July 2021. Revnue was built to solve common challenges of inefficient contract management.
