Elon Musk allegedly plans to make his own town; a Texas utopia, as described by some critics.
This rumor appeared after some speculations claimed that the tech CEO purchased thousands of acres of land just outside Austin, Texas.
If this is true, then Musk will be another billionaire that owns a town in Texas. He will join Mark Cuba, the Dallas Mavericks owner, and other rich individuals who have their own towns in Texas.
Elon Musk Allegedly Wants to Build His Own Texas Town!
According to Fortune's latest report, the alleged town of Elon Musk would be adjacent to the SpaceX and Boring Co. facilities that are under construction.
Speculations claimed that some modular homes and signs are already seen from poles around the area. Some of these signs read "Wecome, Snailbrook, Tex, est. 2021." This hints that the town will be dubbed Snailbrook; a reference to the Boring Company's official mascot.
Many Boring Co. employees, including the company's CEO, Steve Davis, even claimed that Musk not only plans to construct a town, but he also wants to build his own city.
How Elon Musk's Town Will Benefit Employees
The Wall Street Journal reported that the rumored town of Elon Musk will specifically be used for the billionaire's employees.
The so-called Snailbrook town will allow SpaceX and Boring staff to have rental houses that are cheaper than the ones in the local market.
For example, SpaceX and Boring employees can rent two-bedroom or three-bedroom houses for just $800. This is more affordable compared to the houses rented nearby in Bastrop, Texas, which cost around $2,200 per month.
Based on the leaked blueprints, Snailbrook town will consist of around 100 houses.
But, before he can construct his town, Elon still needs to ensure that this place will have at least 201 residents, as required by the Texas law. You can click this link to learn more about Elon's alleged Texas utopia.
