A new AI manga translator could solve the issue with pirated translations.
Due to the fact that the Japanese comic industry's popularity is widespread, many people want to take advantage of it illegally.
Pirated translations have been in the manga industry for quite some time now. There are two reasons why this happens.
First, translating Japanese comics into English takes a long period. Second, only a few manga books have English translations. Because of this, the new Mantra Engine AI was created.
New AI Manga Translator Could Prevent Pirated Translations!
According to Inquirer.Net's latest report, the new Mantra Engine AI is created by Tokyo-based startup Mantra.
This AI-powered translation tool produces highly accurate and natural-sounding English texts based on Japanese texts.
The Mantra Engine AI can do this shorter than the traditional translation methods used by manga artists.
Developers were able to pull this off because they discovered a technique that the translator system can use to match Japanese symbols with English text.
Because of its efficiency, Mantra CEO Ishiwatari Shonosuke said that it could prevent pirated translations in the comic industry.
"If we heighten the efficiency and release translated versions without any time lag, we can prevent pirated manga translations from emerging," explained Shonosuke.
Mantra Engine AI's First Manga Translation
Nikkei Asia reported that the Mantra Engine AI was already used to translate the manga "READ" into English text.
"READ" is an African sci-fi Japanese comic that was distributed in 12 countries across Europe, Africa, and other nations.
Hakusensha, the Japanese comic publisher behind "READ," explained that they were trying to find ways how to speed up their translations.
Because of this, they decided to use the Mantra Engine. In just 10 business days, the comic publisher was able to translate an entire episode of the sci-fi comic.
