CryptoWatch: Deepfake and Phishing Scams Run Amok, the Latest Prices of the Coins

What is happening to the digital coin industry now?

CryptoWatch rounds up last week's top stories which center on the many reported scams present in the blockchain industry, with one of the most notorious being deep fake images and videos of Elon Musk and Neuralink. There was also controversy over Trezor's hardware wallet which centers on a phishing scam launched by unknown assailants.

Still, with all that said, we will bring you the latest price of the coins which represents their current state in the industry, to bring what the latest there is to its prices.

Deepfake Elon Musk, Neuralink Crypto Token Scam

Avoid being the victim of scams and look closer to what it says, especially when there is a top executive used in their media promoting a new token, with Elon Musk appearing yet again to debut a new coin. However, reports claim that these circulating images and videos on Twitter are made using deep fakes to push their agenda through the tech CEO.

In a video shared by Matt Novak, this is the kind of deep fakes spreading like wildfire on Twitter in the present, with the billionaire promoting new cryptocurrency tokens.

However, in a closer look at the video, it is seen that the visuals are not in sync with the audio, and this is because this was taken from an old live stream from Musk.

It is also not that accurate with his original speaking voice, which throws this off as a fake.

Trezor Phishing Scam for its Hardware Wallet

Threat actors are now masquerading their way to steal your information, and it is by sending SMS alerts to wallet owners about a non-existent security breach over at Trezor. The scammers provided a link as to how they could further protect their funds and holdings by clicking the link that would ask them to log in and proceed with the security changes.

This is a classic phishing scam where threat actors get people to log in their accounts to fake websites that replicate the look of the original one, leading them to believe that they are accessing their accounts.

Trezor denied the security breach, as well as messaging their customers via SMS.

It is important to stay vigilant about the messages received whether it be on SMS or e-mail, as they could be fake and lead people to get their accounts or profiles hacked, and in this case, lose all of their hard-earned coins and investments.

Latest Prices of Top Coins for You

The top coins remain their same rankings as the past months and years, with Bitcoin still retaining its top position, while Ethereum comes in at second, and Tether USDT rallies at the third spot.

Compared to last week, there has been a minimal price decrease in the coin's valuation and market value but did not drop significantly, one that would cause another concern for its coins.

Bitcoin pushed through the weekend at $22,500 which is in its typical unstable value, the same as Ethereum. However, the ETH blockchain saw a slight increase and remains strong at $1,500, give or take.

Tether USDT remains strong at a $1.00 price, as a stablecoin.
