Apple’s Official iPhone Battery Replacement Price Hike: $20 More Starting this March—Why?

Seeking Apple's services will cost you more, especially without a warranty.

Apple's official service for Battery replacements on the iPhone recently raised its prices starting this March for those availing of this from the company, with as much as $20 more than its previous listing. The company announced it via its Battery Repair service page, and these prices apply for the out-of-warranty devices coming in to have it replaced.

The battery is the life and heart of the smartphone and frankly, it is one of the key factors considered when buying one, as it is a hassle to replace them now as most are built-in.

Apple's support page for iPhone Battery Repair announced that it is getting a price hike in the different smartphone lineups present in its development.

When browsing the estimate page to generate the expected prices for the iPhone battery, it would depend on your device's model on how much Apple will charge you for it.

The price already includes the service and part that needs replacement, and it will then prompt you for scheduling a service to the nearest Apple Store, or in one's preferred location.

The new iPhone battery prices for its repair are as follows:

  • iPhone 8, iPhone SE, and earlier models - from $49, now $69
  • iPhone X, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13 - from $69, now $89

Apple would still charge iPhone 14 users the same for their battery replacement at $99, the most expensive of all devices.

This price is for those who do not have an active Apple Care plan, a.k.a. the out-of-warranty repairs.

Why is Apple Raising the Prices on iPhone Service?

The prices before the price hike were the ones Apple stuck with since 2019 when it first increased the fee for the repair of the iPhone batteries. It is important to note that this came from the reduced prices from 2018, back when Apple was facing the "batterygate" scandal where weaker batteries on iPhones also face the slowing of their devices.

iPhone Battery Repair and Replacement

Apple is now offering the public their "right to repair" the iPhone with the different parts that an individual needs to replace, and it is after the company held out for a long to push people in bringing in their devices. One of the cheapest and surest ways that one's device sees the right care is to replace it at home, and there are guides widely available for this feat.

With the latest iPhone 14, it is not much of a worry for the public as Apple claimed that it features an "all-day" battery life that will last them through the day with its upgraded power cell. However, it would still depend on the usage and charging method used by its owner if the battery would last.

Influencers and content creators claim that users may make their iPhone's battery last for two years and more, with the famed Battery Health feature in the Settings remaining at 100 percent throughout. This includes not charging overnight and overcharging the device and being cautious of its usage.

However, when all else fails, users need to bring them to service centers, and one of the most ideal is Apple, which now asks for more from the public to repair their iPhone batteries.
