This Fake iPhone Confiscated from a Drug Dealer is Actually a Gun

WA Police tested if this iPhone can actually fire.

In a recent search operation by the Western Australia Police on a suspected drug dealer's home, they stumbled upon what seems to be a weird-looking iPhone which is a concealed gun. This ingenious invention is similar to a now-defunct company, and the suspect had no papers for its ownership, recently confiscated by WA Police to test if it fires.

This fake iPhone is one dangerous weapon, especially as it can deliver fatal blows to its victims while being unaware that it is a gun that masquerades as a mobile device.

Who would know that one person's iPhone is not what you think and could be a deadly weapon?

This was the latest discovery by the WA Police in Cassinia Street, St. Baldivis, in the Mandurah district in Australia.

Last month, the Gang Crime Squad searched the home of a marked drug dealer after obtaining a warrant, and among the illegal substances discovered was a fake iPhone that is a concealed gun.

Moreover, this gun is illegally possessed, as it does not have any permit or have the gun registered to their name.

WA Police's Ballistics are also looking to test if the smartphone-looking gun would fire or if it is only a fake.

IDEAL Conceal is Now Defunct, But its iPhone Guns Still Exist

The iPhone gun that the WA Police confiscated is similar looking to one made by a now-defunct company called Ideal Conceal, which operated until last year. Despite the company already closing down its concealed smartphone-looking gun production, its units are still available to those that bought it or those who still have stocks of it.

Concealed Weapons and Smart Firearms in the World

There was a specific concern back in the mid-2010s until 2022 because an invention alerted law enforcement officials of a seemingly fake smartphone that was deadly and dangerous. This is from the "Ideal Conceal" company, which developed iPhone-looking firearms that can fold up to one's pocket and deliver 9mm shots.

One development company called Armatix from Germany developed a smart gun that would only fire if it detects the accessory watch that comes along with it. The device would be ideal for, say, the likes of people stealing one's firearm and using it against them, and it would avoid misfiring the weapon when cleaning it or being held by someone unfamiliar with it.

Concealing weapons may only be seen in action movies where they keep them on umbrellas, guitar cases, bags, and other inconspicuous materials that one would not mistake for guns.

However, when it does not look like a legitimate iPhone, it could raise concerns, and most of those who own these did not register the firearm to their name, hence the WA Police's confiscation of it and the charge against its owner.
