RadioGPT, the world's first-ever artificial intelligence (AI)-powered radio station is now up and running.
Media firm, Futuri, is now using AI technology to produce radio content amid the booming popularity of AI-powered services like ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing.
RadioGPT: World's First AI-Driven Radio Station
Futuri explains in its press release that "RadioGPT combines the power of GPT-3 technology and the AI-driven targeted story discovery and social content system" of Futuri.
Not to mention that it uses "AI voice tech to provide an unmatched localized radio experience for any market, any format."
The media firm touts that RadioGPT is the first-ever "AI-driven localized radio content solution" in the world. If AI tech is now bringing us chatbots, this time, Futuri is looking to test its capabilities by running a radio station using it.
How RadioGPT Uses AI
The TopicPulse technology helps the AI-driven radio station look for trending news across various social media services like Twitter and Facebook, among other sources. And from there it gathers the most talked about content and topics.
The AI tech does not end there. With the help of the popular GPT-3 technology, which also powers ChatGPT, it creates on-air scripts based on these trending topics.
To make it completely AI-driven, the radio station uses AI voices to read the on-air script like how radio DJs do it.
As per Interesting Engineering, radio stations could train it to sound similar to their current roster of DJs. And besides that, they could also choose if they want a radio show to be hosted by a single AI voice, a duo, or a trio.
While GPTRadio can completely run a radio station, there is an option to only use it for "individual dayparts."
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Futuri, Daniel Anstandig, explains why they used existing technology like GPT-3 and TopicPulse to run its AI-powered radio station.
The big boss of the media firm says that they are "early AI innovators in the broadcast space." Given that, "[it is] only natural that [we are] bringing the incredible power of GPT-3 technology paired with groundbreaking technology like TopicPulse, to the radio."
He further notes that the "possibilities are endless" with RadioGPT.
On top of that, Interesting Engineering reports that RadioGPT goes beyond on-air production. It could generate blogs or posts on social media, which get published in real-time, besides creating radio content.
So instead of relying on a team to work on the digital platforms of the radio station, it could use AI technology as well.
