Realme leak showcases an Apple iPhone Dynamic Island clone, which hints that it might be the first phone maker to bring such a feature to Android devices.
When Apple introduced its all-new Dynamic Island feature to its higher-end flagship devices, some were impressed with its functionalities, while others found it merely a gimmick.
And right away, third-party apps on Android started creating a copycat of the Dynamic Island feature, bringing it to non-iPhone devices like Xiaomi phones.
Realme Leak: Apple iPhone Dynamic Island Clone
This time, it looks like the Oppo-owned Chinese phone maker, Realme, is working to bring the iPhone Dynamic Island feature to its future devices.
As per 9to5 Google, no less than the Vice President of Realme, Madhav Sheth, posted a photo of an Android phone that sports what seems to be the Dynamic Island feature of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro series.
The Realme exec immediately deleted the photo he tweeted after briefly posting it on the Elon Musk-owned social network.
Sheth, who goes by the username MadhavSheth1, shared a photo of their upcoming C-series mobile phone. The feature that looks a lot like the Dynamic Island on iPhones is aptly named the Realme Mini Capsule.
9to5 Google notes in its report that the giant Chinese phone maker, Oppo, owns Realme, alongside OnePlus. With that, it might not take long before we start seeing a similar feature on these two other smartphone brands.
Realme Mini Capsule Leaked Animation
Although the Realme VP was quick to delete his tweet, a leaked animation gave us a glimpse of how the new Mini Capsule feature works.
According to a story by The Verge, a well-known leaker, On Leaks, shared an animation of the Dynamic Island copycat, showing the capsule expanding and collapsing while the Realme device is charging its battery.
Besides showing battery charging information, it remains to be seen if the Chinese tech firm plans to expand its feature much like how it works for iPhones.
Apple iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island
The Verge highlights that the Dynamic Island on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro offers a couple of nifty functionalities, such as notifications for the low battery of AirPods.
Third-party apps have started embracing the Apple feature too. For instance, Google Maps plans to bring Live Activities, whereas Uber now shows the estimated time of arrival of your ride.
With the latest Realme leak, it might not take long before Android phones start to gain these third-party features. And it looks like Realme is looking to be the first Android device to rock a Dynamic Island copycat feature.
