Twitter is getting an upgrade soon, and this was something that Mr. Tweet reacted to in the social media which centers on the direct messaging feature of the platform. There is a poll that asks the public regarding their opinion on changing the way people use Twitter DMs, something which centers on new features like long-pressing for replies, and more.
In this present version of Twitter, the DMs remain somewhat behind compared to rival social media platforms like Facebook's Messenger and Instagram, particularly with the advanced features available.
Twitter DMs Poll: New Advanced Features Asked to the Public
A user called "Troony Toons" started a poll on Twitter that asked about a change to Twitter DMs, and it centers on advanced features to take place on its chats for the public to use. There are two proposed features here and including the holding down of a specific message to give users a chance to preview it and give them the ability to reply.
Another feature that the user proposed was the mention feature "@" in group chats present on the social media's DMs.
These advanced features are already things that users enjoy over at Messenger, and other instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber, and more.
Elon Musk Agrees to the Tweet, But Will it Arrive?
Elon Musk replied to this tweet and said only "Yes," which may mean a lot of things, especially coming from him who is known for his interactiveness with users suggesting things.
This may be a teaser of what is to come soon for social media, but it may also mean that he is only agreeing to what the user said.
Still, it may be something to anticipate in the platform, particularly as Twitter's DMs are getting behind the competition with the likes of Meta, Signal, Telegram, and more.
Elon Musk and Twitter DMs
There was a previously promised Twitter DMs update to the public from Elon Musk, and it centers on the end-to-end encryption capabilities of the messaging feature for its users to enjoy. It will allow encryption that would make conversations in the platform more secure, centering on a new layer of security, especially for those who discuss private things on the platform.
Musk long teased Twitter DM's E2E encryption, claiming that this feature is coming soon as part of the "Twitter 2.0" project that aims to change the company's track, operations, and experience.
In previous claims, Chief Tweet said that he wants it like Signal Messenger, the famous E2E encrypted instant messaging app which rose to popularity when people were fleeing WhatsApp.
However, despite the significant promise and features of this from Twitter's owner, it is not yet available for the public to enjoy, especially with their everyday use of social media.
Not to mention, there is another teaser from Elon Musk regarding Twitter DMs' upgrade to bring advanced features to the public, in his latest response to a poll.
