China features the deepest oil well in the entire Asian continent, as it managed to run as much as 9,026 meters of lines in the Sichuan Province. This is via PetroChina, which dubbed this oil well the "Pengshen-6," which initially faced multiple challenges in its creation, especially with the complex structure it built underground.
One of the most commendable feats is how construction workers faced the challenges of high temperatures and other extreme conditions they met to deliver the project.
PetroChina Created the Deepest Vertical Well in Asia
According to a report by CGTN, PetroChina recently completed the 9,026-meter vertical deep well it needs to harvest oil from the ground, located in the southwest region of Sichuan China. It faced significant challenges in its creation, especially as the area's geology is complex, but this is a roadblock that the company overcame.
Its workers faced extreme conditions to make this creation possible, including high temperature, surface pressure, and sulfur content present in the area.
Ma Yong, deputy director of the engineering technology department at the PetroChina Southwest Oil and Gasfield Company, said that it lays the foundation of the 10,000-meter deep scientific exploration well program that would launch later this year.

More than 10 Times Longer than Burj Khalifa in UAE
It is around 10.9 times longer compared to the tallest building in the world known as the "Burj Khalifa" in Dubai, United Arab Emirates which stands at 828 meters.
And while it does not face the challenges of vertical, on-ground difficulties like skyscrapers, deep wells face the issues of corrosion, surface pressure, and other problems that make it hard to create these underground sources.
Oil Wells in the World: Is it still a Need?
Many may have wondered about the oil mining industry in the world becoming extinct, and while that is the goal of many companies and environmental organizations, it is not yet quite the current situation.
The world began its transition to electric vehicles and this no longer needs the usual petrol or gas which these massive companies and corporations mine daily.
However, there are other industries and needs for oil in the world that are seeing applications in various fields that cannot yet sustain themselves from clean energy sources.
There are plans to create more EV charging stations in the United States, but it does not entirely run on clean energy, as it still taps on grid power to deliver the charge to those in need.
It is important to note that most power grids in the world use fossil fuels sourced from oil rigs and other mining facilities to bring electricity to the world.
Several companies and government organizations already pledge to denounce their reliance on fossil fuels in favor of clean energy sources. However, for the time being, and while the transition takes place, companies like PetroChina are still relevant, especially with its improved operations which recently took the spot to operate with the deepest vertical well in Asia.
