Google Gboard App Gets Redesign: AOSP Keyboard No More?

Check out the Google Gboard App finally got a redesign.

Google has been pushing its Gboard application as the premier keyboard option on Android. It's important to note that the company isn't just making random executive decisions but actively attempting to innovate and improve its services. As such, it's come to our attention that Google is introducing a new redesign for Gboard.

Customize Your Gboard Experience with the New Toolbar Feature

According to the story by Giz China, Google is ushering in a redesign of its popular Gboard keyboard app for Android. Gboard is one of the most used keyboards among Android users, containing a wealth of useful features to do typing faster and easier, including smart text correctors, swipe gestures, and a new, customizable toolbar.

The toolbar, originally limited to four options, now allows users to customize their Gboard experience with a wider range of choices. In addition, it allows Android users to remove the voice search button, which not all users may need or care to use, as also noted in an article by GSM Arena.

Streamlined Design and More Customizable Options for Gboard

Google is committed to providing the best user experience possible regarding its products and services, and these changes to Gboard prove it. With an even more streamlined design and more customizable options, Gboard continues to provide Android users with the most efficient and delightful keyboard experience.

The company recently announced some major changes for Gboard, its popular keyboard app. With these upcoming changes, Gboard will get a more modern look. The circular symbol for the modifier key is gone for good.

A Windows-like Start Button Format Transition in Android Toolbar

The first significant change is that the current circle with an arrow symbol -which hides or reveals customizable features in the toolbar - has been replaced by four squares giving it a Windows-like Start button format, as explained in an article by Android Police.

Moving away from the three-dot menu also provides more room for adding shortcut keys, and the menu has been redesigned with a few rectangles. This takeover hints towards increased options in the future.

Sign Up for Gboard's Beta Program for Early Access to Upcoming Features

Further, Google is working on a new privacy menu in Gboard. This will provide an organized view of advanced privacy-related features and separate the same from the other options in the toolbar. For those that like to try this new interface and features of Gboard, they can sign up for the beta program available via Google Play Store.

Doing so will provide users with regular updates as and when new features are added. This also means that more additions are likely as Google prepares to release the new Android 14 operating system.

It's unclear when the changes will officially roll out, but Google is preparing for the upcoming Android 14, which could come alongside the new OS. Overall, Gboard's redesign is a small but significant update that looks to take the application positively.
