Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine to Remain ‘Free’ to Those That Need It, Amidst Congress Bill Ending

Insured or not, you may still receive the Moderna vaccine at no cost.

Moderna is among the earliest to bring the COVID-19 vaccine to the world. Now that everyone has already adjusted to the new normal and most people are already vaccinated, the company assures its shots will remain at "no cost."

This means that people wanting to have supplemental booster shots or undergo vaccination to protect them from the coronavirus may still receive it for free.

The company's latest announcement assures the public that it will still be accessible, despite Congress's Public Health Emergency bill ending later this year.

The latest news release from Moderna makes it known to the public that its COVID-19 shots will remain accessible to all, especially here in the United States.

According to its statement, "Everyone in the United States will have access to Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine regardless of their ability to pay."

The company claimed that insured people would have the chance to get their vaccines at no cost, but it is a little different for those who do not have health insurance or have plans that do not cover vaccinations.

"Moderna's patient assistance program will provide COVID-19 vaccines at no cost," the company added. This will take effect by May 11, after the public health emergency bill expires.

Congress Public Health Emergency Bill

Kentucky 2nd District Congressman Brett Guthrie introduced the expiry or end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency bill, which will no longer carry out free vaccines for the public by May 11, 2023.

This follows the multiple extensions the Biden administration did for several months to accommodate vaccinations in the country, free of charge.

Despite Congress' bill that ends the freebie, Moderna aims to make their vaccines available at no cost to the public.

Moderna's COVID-19 Vaccine

One of the most promising shots against COVID-19 during the early stages of its rollout to the public is Moderna's development, one of the two centers on the experimental base, mRNA. Despite being a novel approach to vaccine creation, it proved to be highly effective and brought promising numbers in its goal to protect people from the virus.

From the initial COVID-19 virus down to its many variants like the Delta and Omicron, Moderna's vaccine proved to be a great companion to help limit the virus from spreading or infecting its recipient.

The vaccine developers are still on the quest to deliver updated versions of their shots to shield the public from the mutating variants and their presence worldwide.

Pfizer and Moderna are two of the global vaccine developers to use mRNA, and it became a significant base for creating highly-effective shots that were rapidly developed to fill the needs of the public. Despite the rising costs of making it and no longer receiving funding from the government, Moderna assures the public that their hopes to protect themselves from COVID remain cost-free.
