Enteligent, a California-based solar EV charging tech company is about to launch the world's first DC-to-DC rooftop solar-powered hybrid bidirectional EV charger.
The product is said to be launched this week at Intersolar North America 2023 in Long Beach, California, as reported by Electrek.
The EV Charger
The EV charger draws power from rooftop solar and can generate 25 kW of fast DC charging, which is three times faster than AC Level 2 EV chargers. Aside from that, it can support vehicle-to-home (V2H and vehicle-to-grid (V2G)capabilities.
Currently, electric vehicle owners charge their cars using their home chargers powered by an Alternating Current (AC) flow of energy that comes from the electric grid. However, EV batteries operate on Direct Current (DC), which needs the power to be converted from AC to DC to charge.
The problem here is that AC to DC conversion isn't the most efficient and usually results in lost energy and longer charging time.
This is the reason Enteligent created a DC-to-DC charger that also results in 13 percent savings. This also bypasses the EV's internal conversion electronics, which means users can expect a shorter charge time.
It can be recalled that early this month, the tech company was able to raise $7 million in capital from strategic and institutional investors to speed up the commercialization of their solar EV charger.
The DC to DC charger from Enteligent is expected to make a huge impact in the electric vehicle industry. Not only will it make charging more efficient, but it will also reduce the time needed to charge, which will be beneficial for EV owners who need to get back on the road quickly. Furthermore, the charger is also expected to reduce the amount of energy lost during charging, making it an environmentally friendly solution.

The Future of EV Charging
The DC to DC charger from Enteligent is a major step forward in the electric vehicle industry. It will revolutionize the way EVs are charged, making the process easier and more efficient.
Going forward, more companies will likely invest in technology related to EV charging, as it is a rapidly growing industry. In addition, the development of wireless charging technologies could be a major game-changer in the EV industry, as it could make charging even more convenient.
Ultimately, the development of EV charging technologies is a positive step forward for the electric vehicle industry. It will help make EVs more accessible and convenient for drivers, while also reducing energy loss and helping the environment.
