Today Xiaomi announced that it would be ending official support for six different devices that are a part of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. After two years after their initial launch, these phones will no longer receive software updates such as MIUI and Android updates.
No Official Updates for 6 Xiaomi Models After April 2023
According to the story by Giz China, this news was first reported by MIUI's official telegram channel and included the internal names of each model to distinguish them. Although many of these devices were only released two years ago, they will no longer receive official updates from Xiaomi.
The end-of-support list has been released to give users ample notice to make an informed decision about their device before April 21, 2023, when all of these phones will no longer receive official updates.
The news may be disappointing for people using any of these six devices as they will have to purchase a new device soon to get the latest updates. Additionally, those using any of these devices will have to be extra careful while browsing online, as they will no longer receive security updates.
End of Support for Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO Devices
The news of Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices being included in the end-of-support list disappoints many users using these phones. This also serves as a warning to all smartphone users to keep their devices updated to stay secure.
Xiaomi has announced that six of its devices will no longer receive updates. These are the Redmi K40 Pro/+/Xiaomi 11X Pro/Xiaomi 11i (haydn), the Redmi K40/Xiaomi 11X/POCO F3 (alioth), the Redmi K40 Gaming/POCO F3 GT (ares), the Redmi Note 10 Pro/POCO X3 GT (chopin), the Xiaomi 10S (thyme) and the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G (renoir), as also noted in an article by Andro 4 All.
While Xiaomi will continue to provide bug fixes and updates for the stable version of these models, the development of the beta version of the Chinese MIUI ROM for these models will come to an end. The demise of these Xiaomi models won't come as a surprise, given the rapid development of technology.

The End of Software Support: Why It Matters to Xiaomi and Other Device Producers
Modern devices are now more powerful, come with better features, and are designed to be future-proof. This means that older models need help to keep up and become obsolete. Nonetheless, the discontinuation of support is an inevitable part of the technology revolution, especially for companies like Xiaomi, which produces hundreds of models yearly.
The announcement from Xiaomi also provides valuable information for other producers of devices. By knowing which versions of their devices are no longer supported, companies can start planning for the end of their product's lifetime. This comes almost a year after Xiaomi officially ended software support for 70 devices, per Tech Nave.
This can ensure that their users are aware of the results of an outdated device and can help companies expand their product range by releasing newer models faster. At the same time, it also provides information to both current and prospective users.
