The first Tesla employee union could be launched soon. This plan was revealed by a Twitter post, showing that the automaker's workers want to organize a union campaign with Workers United Upstate New York.
The Tesla Workers United's Twitter account was created this February. It posted a letter asking Tesla employees in New York to join their plan so that all their "voices can be heard."
First Tesla Employee Union To Be Launched!
According to CNBC's latest report, if Tesla Workers United becomes official, it would be the first union campaign for Tesla.
In their letter, the Tesla Workers United Organizing Committee explained that the union campaign will allow the automaker to further its sustainability mission.
Aside from this, members said that the union could help Tesla create a better progressive environment that will benefit it, as well as its employees.
"Unionizing will further accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy because it will give us a voice in our workplace and in the goals we set for ourselves to accomplish," said the Tesla Workers United organizers.
In the comment section, the new organization is asking Tesla employees in New York to sign the Fair Elections Principles so that they can be heard by the automaker.
Will Tesla Workers United lead to issues?
As of press time, Tesla hasn't made any comments regarding the planned union campaign.
This is why it is hard to tell if the Tesla Workers United could lead to problems, especially since most tech firms are against this kind of activity from their employees.
But, there's one thing that Tesla Workers United can affect. This is the stock options.
Elon Musk said in 2018 that he would remove the stock options of his employees if ever they form a union. If you want to learn more details about this statement of Musk, you can click this link.
