T-Mobile is down for thousands of customers in the United States as a network outage spread, affecting some areas in the country.
Customers reported that their Apple iPhones started going into SOS mode amid the widespread outage.
T-Mobile Down? Outage Affects Thousands of Customers
As per a recent report by Reuters, the outage prevents some users from making phone calls. On top of that, other cellular services are also unavailable to others.
T-Mobile users in the US have started complaining of what seems to be a widespread network outage affecting cellular services. Some say that they could not make any phone calls or send text messages. Not to mention that 5G internet services have become unavailable.
Complaining users stormed social networks like Twitter to report the network outage. T-Mobile responded to some tweets, saying that they would review these reports.
However, the giant carrier has yet to explain the reason behind the problems that the users were grappling with.
Instead, T-Mobile assures its customers that they are "rapidly working to resolve an issue that has created intermittent impacts to voice, messaging, and data service."
It is also unclear how widespread the network outage is. But the reports at the outage tracking platform, Downdetector.com, suggest that thousands of users are affected by it.

Apple iPhones Are Going into SOS Mode
Meanwhile, iPhone users pointed out that their Apple mobile devices started showing an SOS notification since the outage began.
According to 9to5 Mac, the SOS icon appears on the status bar of some iPhone users affected by the T-Mobile service outage.
It is worth noting that the "SOS" status on iPhones shows up when the device cannot connect to a network. Yet, its users could still proceed with emergency calls.
Apple notes that when iPhones enter into Emergency SOS mode, its users could reach out to emergency services in case they need some help and cellular services are unavailable.
Given that the services of T-Mobile are unavailable in some areas, iPhones have automatically entered into SOS mode.
But once the network outage is over, the icon should vanish into thin air on the status bar.
However, some iPhone owners say that even though the services have been restored, their device still shows "SOS" status.
It is still unclear why it remains this way. It might suggest that the outage persists and the service has not yet been fully restored.
As of writing, T-Mobile has yet to provide any timeline for when the seemingly widespread network outage will end.
