That's about 3.7% more than the material cost for the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The display, camera, and processor upgrades play a huge part. The new A16 Bionic chip comes with an $11 price tag increase to the A15 chip.

Price Drop for Cellular Components and Increase for Made-for-Apple Components
The price of the display itself adds 20% to the total BOM. And the 48MP quad-pixel camera costs Apple an extra $6.30, bringing their camera production costs up by 11% (compared to the year before). On the other hand, cellular components have seen a price drop due to the success of 5G technology.
This saved Apple 1% in production costs. Unfortunately, made-for-Apple components have increased by 22% of the BOM. The total bill to produce the iPhone 14 Pro is estimated to be $17 more than the 13 Pro. That's surprisingly lower than the estimated $21.50 production jump from the iPhone 12 to the 13.
