Throughout the course of his career, Sasi Kumar Raju Addepalli has seen the use of large data sets propel businesses, but he has also seen poorly managed data rack up extra costs, lead to customer dissatisfaction, and create operational inefficiencies. With more data available than ever before, master data management is in the spotlight, and Addepalli is a leader in the field.

Starting out as a software engineer at Accenture, Addepalli developed analytical reports, maintained data mappings in legacy systems, and transformed data before moving it into data warehouses. All of these components showcased just how critical every step of the way was; if data was ever corrupted or mislabeled, downstream processes became inaccurate and difficult to manage.

While working as an Informatic Cloud and IDQ Developer at Sysco, Addepalli was tasked with developing complex, custom mappings to improve the performance of existing systems. With efficient mappings in place, Sysco's internal systems became easier to use, more supportive of analytical tools, and sound in quality. The stewardship of data enables many business processes, and in this role, Addepalli's passion for Master Data Management skyrocketed.

For the last few years, Addepalli has been an MDM leader at Exact Sciences, an organization that specializes in cancer research and diagnostics. Health data directly impacts patient care, treatment tracking, and the effectiveness of medical providers. Addepalli has always seen data management as a paramount function for any organization, but in the healthcare industry, its importance rises to new levels.

At Exact Sciences, Addepalli developed an easy-to-use function that helps prevent duplicate data entries, making the jobs of medical providers easier. When a doctor orders a test or treatment for cancer patients, this function will save time and reduce any ordering errors, leading to a better patient experience, too. Although Addepalli continues to prove himself as a valuable technical resource, as a leader in the field, he has brilliantly crafted his ability to support a team and find collective success.

Addepalli and his technical team built a Common Core Platform for the organization that collates sales data, lab data, customer service data, portal data, and more. The privacy and security requirements for the nature of this data are intricate, but under Addepalli's leadership, the build was successful. Now, it is possible to understand the data holistically instead of in department silos. In turn, data-driven decisions can be made with confidence at all levels of the organization. With this master data management system in place, customer service alone has noticed a daily time saving of 1 hour. When extrapolated to all departments, the time savings are massive.

For the power of data to be recognized and felt, it must have integrity and be trustworthy. Master data management ensures that data quality is high, turning simple numbers and characters into actionable insights for every single organization. As a challenge-seeker, Addepalli enjoys working with sensitive health data; he may not be a medical provider, but he's just as committed to patient care and organizational success as any physician at Exact Sciences, and that's why he excels in his role at the organization.

Mr. Addepalli's career has been filled with data, but before his impact, much of that data was unusable. With the right infrastructure, systems, and processes in place, data becomes so much more than numbers and letters on a screen. To build up the new generation of data management professionals that will come behind him, Addepalli is committed to teaching when possible and supporting hackathons and other data-centric competitions. He has been a judge at the Stevie Awards, Codie Awards, Globee Awards, and the NTX Global Hackathon. He's also the proud recipient of the International Achievers Award as well as the "Most Prominent Industry Expert of the YearData - 2023" award from Business Mint in the "San Francisco Healthcare Data Management" category. Data is everywhere, but the only reason it's so valuable is because of Addepalli and the professionals in his field.
