After OnePlus announced its upcoming products including the new earbuds, smartphone, and tablet, the company unveiled that it would be releasing another product in the form of a keyboard.
The first-ever mechanical keyboard dubbed the OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro might be similar with Keychron at first glance. Although it looks almost the same with the iconic computer peripheral, you need to know why it's so special in its way.
OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro Looks Like Keychron Q1 Pro
According to a report by XDA Developers, this keyboard has been teased by OnePlus in its past announcement. Now, the newly-launched hardware is expected to be up for pre-orders in April.
The OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro won't be possible without Keychron's contribution. The smartphone maker collaborated with the keyboard manufacturer to bring this thing to life.
It's understandable why it has a strikingly similar design with Keychron Q1 Pro because of Keychron's involvement in its making.
The wireless mechanical keyboard boasts a hot-swappable layout for geeks who are fond of replacing switches. There's no need to desolder them just to perform this short process.
Through VIA, you can remap the dial's function as well as the keyboard keys you can see on it. Since it's a OnePlus product, you will notice the gray and red colors all over the place.

OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro Features
When it comes to its texture, you will enjoy tapping its "marble-mallow keycaps" which will give you a "soft bounce." OnePlus says that this will surely give you the "ultimate comfort" you need while using it.
According to The Verge, the company claims that it also features an "alert slider" which is a redesigned toggle slider you can see on the top and side part of the accessory.
It's really a Q1 Pro that debuted for the second time for fans who are eagle-eyed about their differences. Apart from that, we could expect that it will offer the same longevity we see on Q1 Pro.
Although OnePlus has not yet unveiled information about how long we can use it, it could potentially go for up to 300 hours if the backlighting is turned off. If it's switched on, it can reach up to 100 hours of continuous use.
OnePlus adds that a pair of originally-made switches will be featured on OnePlus Keyboard 81 Pro. These are "Summer Breeze" (linear switches) and "Winter Bonfire" (tactile switches).
Some people think that OnePlus only rebadged this keyboard out of Keychron based on their features. There might be a reason why the company opts to shock the public with its own mechanical keyboard.
It's possible that it aims to penetrate the keyboard market to compete with other computer peripheral brands such as Razer, Corsair, and MSI.
