Ford Formula One 2026 Return

The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of F1, Stefano Domenicali, welcomed the much-awaited comeback of the renowned carmaker with open arms.

The big boss of F1 says "the news today that Ford is coming to Formula 1 from 2026 is great for the sport."

Domenicali went on to disclose that they "are excited to see them join the incredible automotive partners already in Formula 1.

On top of that, the chief executive highlighted that the American automaker not only sports an "incredible heritage in racing" but in the world of automotive as well.

The F1 President believes that the giant carmaker is making its comeback to the international racing tournament due to the commitment of F1 to be Net Zero Carbon come 2030.

And as early as 2026, the F1 seeks to kick off the use of sustainable fuels in the racing cars of the participants.

The Executive Chairman of Ford, Bill Ford, announced that "this is the start of a thrilling new chapter" for the motorsports history of the American automaker. He noted that their rodeo in motorsports began when his great-grandfather, no less than Henry Ford, won a race.

Ford's Formula 1 History

It is worth mentioning that the history of Ford's F1 participation started long ago in the 1960s, the press release of F1 notes.

And since then, the American automaker took home a total of 13 driver championships, along with ten constructor's championships.

Given that, the giant carmaker turns out to be the third most successful engine manufacturer in the entire history of Formula 1.

And now, Ford is back at it again, joining the exhilarating fun this 2026, in time for the new engine regulations.

Red Bull Partnership

According to a recent report by Associated Press News, Ford is joining forces with Red Bull Racing for its comeback to Formula One, breaking its long 24-year absence in the international series.

To kick off their partnership, Ford will bring immediate technical support for the current season of the series.

But in 2026, Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri are set to begin using Ford hybrid engines. AP News notes that the partnership between Ford and the constructors champion last season is going to last for at least eight years.

It should be noted that the two-time defending world champion, Max Verstappen, competes with Red Bull Racing.
