Xiaomi Plans Trade-in Program Targeting Apple: Mi Note for iPhone 5s, Mi Note Pro for iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus

Xiaomi introduces a new trade-in program that will attempt to entice Apple iPhone users to become new Xiaomi smartphone owners.

The company is aggressively pushing its latest flagship devices, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, and wants to lure iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus users into the Mi Note ecosystem by trading in their devices.

The program seems to be a smart move from the company, which openly touts its latest devices as strong rivals to the iPhone. Some even refer to them as the "Apple of China" because of the striking similarity in the design between Xiaomi's smartphones and Apple's.

In 2014, Xiaomi enjoyed a huge success after becoming the third largest smartphone maker in the world, overtaking other established names such as LG, HTC, Lenovo and Motorola in the race. The company plans to make it even bigger this year with the announcement of a slew of upcoming devices. Part of that plan is to sell 100 million devices within the year and expand to other markets beyond Asia.

Xiaomi has been making its products a strong competition to Samsung and Apple from the very beginning. One of these is the previous flagship Mi 4 device, which the company has placed against the Galaxy S5 and Apple's iPhone.

Xiaomi is once again holding a face-off with the Cupertino-based company with its latest flagship devices, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro. As previously reported in TechTimes, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro are 5.7-inch handsets that boast impressive specs but are definitely more affordable than the latest flagship devices from Apple. The company even called the new phones the "most epic flagship phone of the year."

The Mi Note is said to hit the stores in China on Jan. 27 while the more powerful Mi Note Pro is arriving in late March. It looks like Xiaomi wants to create a lot of noise with the arrival of their products by trying to get the attention of iPhone users with their announcement of the trade-in program. Obviously, the timing of the announcement seemed to be a well-planned strategy.

Additionally, the Xiaomi development team is also working on an app that will make it easy for iPhone users to switch to Xiaomi. Through the app, users will be able to migrate their data and sync their contacts. Merging will be very easy and users are assured that no contacts will come in duplicate.
