Android, iPhone Battery Drained by Facebook?
According to Android Authority's latest report, there's one reason why Facebook secretly drains your smartphone's battery.
Hayward claims that the social media platform conduct "negative testing" activities.
"I said to the manager, 'This can harm somebody,' and she said by harming a few we can help the greater masses," said the former FB employee.
George also shared that the tech giant fired him because he refused to participate in Facebook's negative testing activities.
Hayward tried to file a lawsuit against Facebook. However, his legal case has been withdrawn because the former employee was required to go to arbitration.
What is Negative Testing?
Negative testing activities are not illegal since app developers and companies rely on them to test their software's efficiency.
For those unfamiliar with negative testing, it is the act of applying unexpected circumstances and behaviors to an app or software.
Smart Bear explained that negative testing activities allow app developers to know if their products can handle invalid input or unexpected user behavior.
With negative testing activities, Facebook and other online apps can ensure that their systems will not crash in case there are sudden issues.
However, the main issue with Facebook's negative tests is that they affect people's smartphones, forcing users to charge their iOS and Android devices more frequently.
Aside from negative testing, Facebook also faced criticisms because of other issues on its app.
Recently, many experts worried about the risks of Facebook-connected apps.
We also reported that Meta faced a lawsuit in Kenya after it was accused of amplifying hate speech on Facebook.
