As of press time, the Gigafactory Shanghai is considered to be the largest manufacturing plant by vehicle production volume.

Now, it is expected to produce more Tesla EV units.

This detail has been confirmed via a planning memo acquired by Reuters from an individual who is familiar with the automaker's works.

Previously, Tesla made huge headlines after it reduced the costs of its popular electric cars-Model Y and Model 3-by 6% to 13%.

Because of this, EV orders in Asian countries surged.

However, the price cuts led to some issues. Chinese consumers who missed the huge EV discounts decided to conduct protests.

Although this is the case, many reports showed that the demand for Tesla EVs in the Chinese market is still surging.

20,000 Tesla Units Per Week?

Based on the leaked planning memo, the giant EV maker wants to increase the weekly EV production in Giga Shanghai by up 20,000 units.

The automaker wants to maintain this number from February until March.

In a recent conference call, Elon Musk said that Tesla orders almost doubled in January after the global price cuts.

He added that there's a chance that Tesla could deliver over 2 million EV units before 2023 ends.

The upcoming Tesla Giga Shanghai production ramp-up will surely play a major role in Elon Musk's goals for his EV company.

As of press time, Tesla hasn't shared specific details about its planned Giga Shanghai production ramp-up.
