Microsoft Will No Longer Sell Windows 10 Starting Feb. 1; Users Forced to Switch to Windows 11?

Microsoft has marked January 31, 2023, as the last day PC users can use outdated Windows OS.

Microsoft's Windows has already gone into several updates, yet the company feels the need to add more layers of improvement to it.

Soon, Windows 10 users will be forced to upgrade to Windows 11 since Jan. 31 will be the last day they can use Windows 8 and other older OS.

Could this be the end of Windows 10?

According to UK-based news website Express, Windows 10 users will stay on sale on the official website of Microsoft until Jan. 31.

The Redmond tech titan previously said that some of its oldest products will be phased out this year. This is bad news for Microsoft users still using outdated operating systems and software.

With this announcement, it is expected that Windows 7 or 8 users won't be able to use the operating systems anymore. This means that security updates will no longer be added in the next patch. This will make the PC more vulnerable to glitches and bugs.

For those people who are still using Windows 10, there's only one option you can make. It's by switching to Windows 11. It would be more problematic if your computer could not handle the new OS.

Some users think that Windows 10 is a great operating system because of the less power that it consumes. With it coming to an end, they might be forced to look for new PCs compatible with Windows 11.

Aside from that, Microsoft already confirmed that Windows 10 support will not be available anymore by 2025. This means that you only have two years to enjoy using this OS.

"Once a Microsoft operating system (OS) reaches the end of support, customers will no longer receive technical assistance, software updates, or security fixes," the company wrote on its support page.

Windows 11 System Requirements

If you are now planning to jump to Windows 11, here are the system requirements you need to consider on your PC.

  • 4GB of RAM or higher
  • 1 GHz processor containing two or more cores (64-bit recommended)
  • 64 GB storage or more for Windows 11 installation
  • Additional storage for updates and app downloads
  • DirectX 12 or later graphics card version (with WDDM 2.0 driver)
  • UEFI system firmware (Secure Boot)
  • At least a 720 display (8 bits per color channel)
  • Internet connection (for extra updates and features)

Leaked Windows 11 Upgrade

According to another story by Windows Latest, Windows 11 is about to receive a set of new updates. The improvements will include a new volume mixer, a new File Explorer, and AllowExperimental Features tool in the Insider Program.

These changes are still subject to change, and there's no guarantee that all of them will be on the next update. It's better to take them with a grain of salt for now.
