Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, assured that Microsoft plans to continue to "support and grow" the "Halo" franchise.
It comes despite recent massive layoffs, which affected the gaming platforms of the tech behemoth. All in all, around 10,000 employees had to part ways with Microsoft.
Xbox's Phil Spencer Says Microsoft's 'Halo' Support Continues
Given that Microsoft recently slashed its Halo and Xbox teams, fans of the massive franchise are now wondering what the future holds.
However, as per a report by Engadget, the head of Xbox confirmed that Microsoft is keeping its commitment to the "Halo" franchise.
Spencer made the assurance to "Halo" fans in a recent interview with IGN, ahead of the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Developer Direct showcase.
Engadget notes in its report that the extent of the job cuts for the "Halo Infinite" team is still unclear. But reports claim that it is significantly affected by the recent layoffs.
He states that "what [we are] doing now is we want to make sure that [the] leadership team is set up with the flexibility to build the plan that they need to go build."
Spencer assured that "Halo will remain critically important to what Xbox is doing, and 343 is critically important to the success of Halo."
The big boss of Xbox added that he expects Microsoft to continue to "support and grow" Halo, "as long as the Xbox is a platform for people to play."
Despite that, Game Rant notes in its news story that some of the former developers of "Halo Infinite" previously criticized the tech giant for the recent layoffs and the alleged ineffective leadership.
Microsoft Layoff
Euro Gamer reports that the Xbox maker, Microsoft, recently laid off roughly 10,000 employees. And the recent cutback forced its gaming platforms, including 343 Industries, Xbox studios, and Halo studio, to trim down its team.
The Xbox head recently told his team that the layoffs in the gaming platforms of Microsoft is admittedly a "difficult week."
Spencer went on to add that they were surely "painful choices." However, he states that the move would help Xbox in its success moving forward.
But despite the layoffs affecting Halo and Xbox, Spencer assures that the renowned tech giant continues its commitment to the hit gaming franchise.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for upcoming "Halo" games and the current "Halo Infinite." But what we are sure for now is that Microsoft is continuing its support for the gaming franchise.
