Samsung Galaxy S23 Series are Enabled with the New Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

According to the story by Giz China, Qualcomm made it official that all Galaxy S23 series phones are 5G enabled with the Snapdragon 8 Gen2, and Samsung teased it as "Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy". This special version of SoC is expected to be exclusive to Samsung, as the company struck a deal with Qualcomm and might not be available to other brands until mid-2023.

It's been a few months since news of the Galaxy S23 series pushed Samsung to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered devices in more territories than initially planned. Now, Samsung and Qualcomm have officially announced a special and exclusive version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, as seen on GSM Arena, that will be available only in the newly released Samsung Galaxy S23 series.

Custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform to be Released for Galaxy

Designed specifically for the Galaxy, this custom version of the chip will be known as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy and will include several logo modifications to help promote the special version of the chip, as seen on a post by a leaker on Twitter. With many rumors hinting that Samsung is manufacturing the Gen2 for Galaxy chip, it could be an exclusive piece of hardware that only those with the Galaxy S23 series can access.

Additionally, although there is speculation that the chip may eventually make its way to other brands after its release, current rumors indicate that Samsung will stick with this chip for the Galaxy S24 series. By 2025, the company will likely be introducing a new, in-house chipset that may be a direct successor or slight upgrade to this one.
