Microsoft to Build New New Version of Edge with Project Phoenix

Project Phoenix to Introduce a New Design for the Windows 11

According to the story by Giz China, the new version, known as Project Phoenix, is set to introduce a new design that is tailor-made to fit Windows 11 visually and functionally. One exciting new feature of this update is the ability to view multiple tabs in a split-screen view.

This feature has previously been available in other browsers, such as Vivaldi, but introducing it as a default on Microsoft Edge should make the browser much more attractive. Another improvement set to be introduced is the Tab Activity Center.

Windows 11 Edge is Expected to be the OS's Password Manager

Additionally, a new, round, uniform look for the navigation bar will make the browser fit more seamlessly into Windows 11. Edge is also expected to become the OS's password manager, allowing users to sync passwords across devices easily.

This will provide users with faster insights into their browsing history. It is similar to the Digital Wellbeing features available on Android and iOS and looks like a great addition to the browser.

On top of this, the company is looking to integrate it further with Windows by making Microsoft Edge the password manager across devices. Introducing these new features is part of Microsoft's major focus on pairing up Edge with Windows 11, as explained in an article by XDA Developers.

In anticipation of the Microsoft Build conference, excitement is building for Microsoft's plans for the Edge Browser. The Redmond giant is planning to give their browser a complete makeover with a new design, new features, and the potential to become the OS's password manager.

Microsoft is Also Working on the Tab Activity Center

The most intriguing feature so far is the split-screen view, as seen on Windows Central, allowing users to view multiple apps and tabs simultaneously. Microsoft is also working on a Tab Activity Center to give users a comprehensive view of their browsing and tabs history.

These improvements are still "in works" and will be available to users through the insider program. For now, we can only speculate on when these changes will be available, but according to our coverage, the updates could roll out as early as the first half of 2023 with the 23H1 release for Windows 11.

It is expected to arrive with the 23H1 update in the first half of 2023 but can also be ready for the 23H2 release in the second half of 2023. People who want to test this feature out can join the Insider Program so they can use it before it is released.
