Tesla Model Y Delivery Wait Time Increases in Europe

As per a recent report by Inside EVs, Tesla has recently increased the delivery times for their Model Y EVs in Germany. Thus, it might take customers longer before getting their hands on their new electric car.

The Model Y rear-wheel drive, which recently saw a massive price cut, is now expected to be delivered at a much later date. It is worth noting that the website of Tesla initially pointed out that the deliveries of the Model Y AWD sit between January and February.

But this time, the giant EV maker pushed it from February to March. So this confirms that customers would have to wait until next month before Tesla delivers their EVs.

The Long Range and Performance now also sports the new longer lead times. The website says that the expected delivery might be between February and March.

The longer wait time comes shortly after the Musk-led automaker announced price cuts for the Model Y in Europe.

Is the Recent Price Cut to Blame?

The tech giant recently cut the pricing of its EVs to further maintain its sales performance in various regions. The massive price cut is a reversal of the various hikes that the COVID-19 pandemic and the supply chain mess brought.

The recent extension of wait time for the Model Y EVs suggests that the new pricing attracted more demand from consumers. And it looks like the Gigafactory Berlin has yet to keep up with its pace.

Model Y Wait Time in China

Recently, the Tesla Model Y wait time for customers in China has also gotten longer right after a recent price cut.

Reuters reports that the giant EV maker brought down the prices of its electric car between six percent and 13.5% in the second largest market in the world.

And as such, the wait time for the Model Y, including both the Long Range and rear-wheel drive options, now takes a week longer than prior to the price cut.

So customers in China have to wait for at least two to five weeks before they can get their hands on the Tesla EV.

On the other hand, the Model 3 sedan still kept the same delivery wait time, as well as the performance variant of the Model Y, according to Reuters.

In other related news, the Tesla Model Y AWD with a 4680 Battery is now finally available.
