China is reinforcing a new strategy to counter US forces that aims to help Taiwan amidst the mainland's invasion, and it claimed that it will soon use artificial intelligence towards the cause. The East Asian superpower will now center on "smart deterrence" for their further steps amidst their goals to invade Taiwan and make it one of its constituents.
The issue between Mainland China and Taiwan is still ongoing, and the Chinese leaders aim to make Taiwan a Republic of China, which the Southeast Asian country tries to get away from.
China to Use AI Against US Forces Helping Taiwan
According to the South China Morning Post's report, Ni Yongjie, deputy director of the Shanghai Institute of Taiwan Studies., claimed that the idea of "smart deterrence" is being researched by the People's Liberation Army at the moment.
"PLA should conduct blockade exercises around the island and use AI technology to deter U.S. interference and Taiwanese independence forces," Yongjie said.
Additionally, the expert claimed that the PLA may soon be a global leader in future intelligent warfare should it get its affairs in order.
Smart Deterrence to Counter Political Threats?
Interesting Engineering said that AI warfare is already common for China, with Beijing already simulating scenarios for the Taiwan invasion operations it is planning now. Moreover, the simulation already looks into countering the US Navy's ships, with its countermeasures against the American warships, in a hypothetical Taiwan takeover by 2026.
Artificial Intelligence and its Use
Artificial intelligence has a plethora of uses in the modern world, and it is not for computer programs alone, or automating robots to deliver a different experience for users. It also has massive applications for the medical industry, where developers and professionals use it to better diagnose unknown diseases or illnesses, for a more accurate scan.
Moreover, many countries have focused on using artificial intelligence as a part of their government procedures and agencies in its use to improve their systems for many operations. In China, there is an initiative by its Cyberspace Administration to focus its AI advancements to avoid its misuse and abuse in the current tech landscape.
However, in terms of political issues, China is yet again using AI to further its cause, and its main goal is to counter the United States for its help to Taiwan. This is something that its officials have confirmed via reports, one that would help the Chinese to get ahold of Taiwan, amidst its operations to take the country under its current regime.
