Rumor Says Samsung is Working on 'Galaxy Dedicated Chip,' Potentially Phasing Out the Qualcomm SoCs

Samsung could be working on its own dedicated chips.

It appears that Samsung's smartphone division is indeed designing its own flagship chip for upcoming Galaxy mobile devices. Should this happen, Samsung will be able to replace the chips that it uses for its own smartphone devices.

Samsung to Potentially Make Its Own Dedicated Chips to Replace Its Reliance on the Qualcomm SoCs

According to a story by Giz China, rumors are coming out that Samsung is trying to develop its own flagship chips for its smartphone devices. Should this happen, Samsung could give up its reliance on the Qualcomm SoCs, which are currently being used on its devices.

According to Ice Universe and reliable tipster, Samsung's president of the mobile experience Business, TM Roh, will divulge further details on the 'Galaxy dedicated chip' at the upcoming launch event of the Galaxy S23.

Samsung is Not the Only Company that is Rumoredly Trying to Develop Its Very Own Dedicated Chips as Google is Doing the Same

This news is not a shock since back in April, TM Roh had already alluded to the creation of a dedicated chip for Galaxy devices. Comparatively, the Google Tensor chip, set to reappear in the soon-to-be-released Google Pixel Fold, has the same AI capabilities that Samsung could adopt for their own chipset.

For years, the flagship Galaxy S series has been powered by the Exynos chip sold within international markets, whilst Snapdragon SoCs have been used for customers within North America and China. However, insiders have suggested that all the Galaxy S23 units incorporate an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

No More Faith in the Exynos Chips as the Potential for the Galaxy Dedicated Chip Remains Endless

Following lost faith in the performance of the Exynos chips, this is an enticing advancement. At this stage, it is hard to contain speculation on the purpose of the Galaxy dedicated chip - what sort of capabilities it could bring to future Galaxy handsets.

As Samsung has its own foundry, capable of manufacturing 3nm chips, the only other foundry after TSMC that can construct such advanced chips, they could make something spectacular. Additionally, Samsung has plenty of time to make something incredible as the chip won't be ready to use in devices until 2025.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series is Expected to Launch on February 1 for the Samsung Unpacked Event

It will be exciting to learn more about the chip's specifications and capabilities and what it could enable for the upcoming Samsung S25 range. With the launch of the Galaxy S23 on February 1, buyers may soon discover what Samsung has in store for its dedicated chip.

According to an article by Phone Arena, the date was confirmed by Samsung Estonia for the next Samsung Unpacked event. The article noted that pre-orders would start on Groundhog Day for the company's upcoming Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which is expected to drop on February 9.
