The gaming industry at CES 2023 is showcasing its most realistic simulation gear, including vests, head pillows, and other wearables.
The Haptic Experience
In a South China Morning Post (SCMP) report, CEO Kiuk Gwak of bHaptics said lots of people are playing games and seeking gaming hardware. He demonstrated the company's vest and gloves at the Las Vegas convention, which wraps up on Sunday, Jan. 8.
The haptic vest may make you feel like you are right in the middle of the action in a virtual environment, and the haptic gloves complete the effect.
Gwak remarked, "People are not just using our vest for getting shot, but they can feel the wind or rain or even bees in virtual reality."
Razer, a gaming accessories manufacturer, unveiled Project Carol during the event. It is a surround-sound audio and haptics head cushion that, in the company's words, both allow gamers "to feel everything behind them, placing them firmly in the middle of the action."
In addition, Razer said that their mobile gaming device, called Edge, would be available in the US on Jan. 26 for $400.
PC and Auto Upgrades
In addition, many laptop manufacturers, including Dell and Acer, showcased devices with high-resolution displays and powerful processors in an effort to attract gamers with a preference for speed and immersion.
New gaming PCs with the newest graphics processing units from both AMD and Nvidia were also on exhibit.
It was also announced that Nvidia's GeForce Now cloud gaming service would be available in automobiles for the first time. This follows the partnership among Hyundai Motor Group, BYD, and Polestar.
Nvidia has made a statement acknowledging cloud technology and the mobile internet as vehicle passengers can now keep boredom at bay by watching movies, playing games, and listening to music while on the road.
The tech firm also noted that whoever is behind the wheel can only play games once they park.
It also said that The ability to transmit video games to a vehicle is an important part of what the future of in-car entertainment looks like.
More Product Launches
Meanwhile, tech giants like South Korean rivals LG and Samsung showcased gaming-specific displays at CES, complete with features like curved panels to increase the sense of immersion.
Clover Gaming, headquartered in the Dominican Republic, advertised a metaverse casino that included slot machines, roulette, horse betting, and other Las Vegas-style games.
According to chief development officer Eilla Lefebvre, blockchain and cryptocurrency will be used by the CloverLand gambling site.
Lefebvre commented that the group's attendance at CES was motivated in part by their adoption of cutting-edge technology. "We want to find out what people like and don't like to make sure we are going in the right direction."
With the promise of life-altering developments like the metaverse and the increasing interconnectivity of consumer electronics, CES has taken on greater significance for businesses looking to strengthen their relationships with consumers.
