With the likes of Steam and Xbox controllers in the market right now, Dell and Alienware look forward to competing with the existing gaming accessories.
After unveiling the Concept Nyx controller at CES 2023, fans are confused about what it can offer gamers. It's so futuristic that you cannot tell if it's a hybrid of Sony's PS5 DualSense, Valve, and Microsoft's controller.
Dell Concept Nyx Might the Future of Gaming Controllers
The first time Dell hinted at releasing a gaming controller was last year. The company revealed at that time that the first version of this accessory could allow users to play two games simultaneously on just one screen.
Just recently, the tech giant confirmed that the second version of the upcoming controller would be the future of gaming controllers.
According to a report by Engadget, it's not just an ordinary controller with programmable buttons. It has a pair of analog sticks, adaptive triggers, a trackpad, two scroll wheels, and another pair of shift buttons.
Additionally, the second-gen Dell Concept Nyx boasts two top buttons designed for "capacitive sensing." It's intended for players who want to slide their fingers across them.
Engadget also includes in its report that this could be Dell's premium gaming controller. It gives gamers an Xbox vibe paired with an impressive, durable design.
What's the Catch With Dell Concept Nyx
While fans think this could be the next-gen gaming controller of the future, some people believe it feels incomplete to touch.
Not all users do not get used to the current design of the trackpad and still prefer the traditional ones. Dell might expect this accessory to be more suited for PC gaming, given that it has a circular trackpad.
Dell might be gambling on this one-time product, given how saturated the controller market is.
If the company wants to launch it this year, it better sport an interesting feature that we haven't yet seen on either Steam Deck controller or DualSense.
Unfortunately, it just remains a mere concept until we see how it really works in real-time. It's promising at first sight, given how immersive it is regarding buttons and their functions.
For two years straight, Dell is only hinting at its release, but still, it does not announce if it has plans to commercialize the Concept Nyx soon, per Android Authority.
If this is the case, fans will be forced to test the waters by purchasing other available controllers in the market while waiting for the official version of Concept Nyx, maybe a few months or years from now.
