An EV driver received a parking fine after he was forced to wait in a very long charging queue.
If you are the one in this situation, this would certainly ruin your day.
This detail was shared by the EV owner on Reddit's r/electricvehicles forum.
In his post, he said that authorities gave him a parking fine of $120 (£100).
EV Driver Receives $120 Parking Fine Due to Long Charging Queue
According to Express UK's latest report, the man was waiting for three hours at a motorway service's charging station.

"Anyone else received a parking fine for queuing to charge your EV?" said the EV driver.
The man added that he and his family, including their cat, were stuck at an M4 Welcome Break.
The EV owner further stated that the charging queue was too long because the motorway service only had two charging stations.
After he received the parking fine, he tried reaching out to ParkingEye. However, his appeal was declined.
Because of this, the man decided to escalate his problem to POPLA (Parking on Private Land Appeals).
After experiencing the parking fine, he urged people to avoid charging their EVs at Welcome Breaks.
Parking Fine Exemptions
Unfortunately, this is not the first time that people with EVs and conventional cars have received parking fines while waiting at a charging or gas station.
This is why knowing the exemptions applicable to PCN (Parking Charge Notice) is important. Here's the list of PCN exemptions provided by NiDirect Gov UK:
- Vehicles displaying a Blue Badge.
- Officials who are carrying out their statutory duties.
- Cars picking/dropping passengers.
- Emergency service vehicles.
- Universal service providers' vehicles.
- Road maintenance vehicles.
Based on these details, authorities have the right to charge drivers who are waiting at a charging or fueling queue. To avoid parking fines, the best thing you can do is to park somewhere near and check if the waiting line has lessened.
