Heybike has made an extraordinary electric bike. The full-suspension folding e-bike is made from a one-piece magnesium alloy frame, as reported by Electrek.

The new e-bike was unveiled at CES 2023, among other e-bikes, by the brand that debuted over the last few years.

Heybike Tyson

The Heybike Tyson has a construction that is first in its category. It is designed in a way to reduce weight, at the same time increasing the e-bike's durability.

Heybike designed the product to deliver aesthetics and convenience while also providing an excellent riding experience. Its one-piece magnesium alloy construction ensures superior quality and durability. In addition, it comes equipped with a 750-watt motor.

The mag wheels are also spokeless, which ensures less maintenance. You can also spot a small format 750W hub motor that is hidden in the rear wheel beside the seven-speed gear cluster.

Moreover, the e-bike comes with a thumb throttle that will keep it in the Class 2 category. When it comes to its battery, it is equipped with a 48V 15Ah with a 720 Wh of capacity. It is said that the bike has a maximum range of 55 miles on pedal assist.

The Tyson e-bike is still on the heavier side, weighing 77 lbs. However, it can carry a maximum weight on the rear rack of 120 lbs, which means it can also be a family bike, which is perfect when you need to drop off the kids at school.

Its front fork is a hydraulic suspension for while the rear suspension doesn't look that fancy. Nevertheless, it can be used in most terrains.

The e-bike also features hydraulic disc brakes for maximum safety. We don't know yet how much it will cost, but the company reassured that it will be up on their website soon enough.

Magnesium Alloy for Bikes

Magnesium is a lightweight material that is used to make racing cars because of its lightweight nature. The material is also stronger than aluminum, which might be heavier than magnesium, but is more expensive to produce.

It was initially used in e-bikes to reduce the weight, but now some bike manufacturers are using it to increase the strength of the frame.

Magnesium alloy is available in pure magnesium, a very soft and light metal, which is mostly used as a structural support for other metals, as well as in aluminum, an alloy of magnesium and aluminum. The aluminum magnesium alloy is stronger than pure magnesium.

Normally, a bike is made of carbon fiber, steel or aluminum. Aluminum is widely used because it is cheaper to produce. Carbon fiber, on the other hand, is considered to be the best material to make bikes as it is light, but strong.

Heybike is known for its unique frames, but it is the first time they introduced an e-bike with a magnesium alloy frame to the market. Hopefully, Heybike will introduce more of such bikes in the future.
