Long-Lost Footage From Cancelled 'Justice League' Fighting Game Surfaces

No matter what, there will always be one debate that comic book fans will never be able to settle: who would win in a fight, Batman or Superman?

There have been numerous depictions of such a fight, including comic books like The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: Hush and JLA: Tower of Babel. Of course, the upcoming film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice wears its intentions on its sleeve, and games like Injustice: Gods Among Us were built specifically around the Dark Knight vs. Man of Steel conflict.

However, there was one project that never saw the light of day: a cancelled Justice League fighting game by the studio behind Killer Instinct. The game was cancelled years ago, and the only proof of its existence was a series of old screenshots...until now. So, who would win - Batman or Superman? Here's some actual footage from the cancelled game:

First off: yes, Superman would always win in a purely physical match-up against Batman - but that doesn't mean watching Supes eat dirt isn't incredibly satisfying.

Secondly, it's clear that the game was never finished: most of the sound and visual effects in the game seem to be placeholders, and it looks as if the art for Superman and Batman's suits was never fully finished. It's also vastly different from most fighting games on the market today: it's far more Power Stone than Mortal Kombat.

While it's a shame when any game gets cancelled, at least DC fans got their fix when NetherRealm Studios released Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013. Really, the only similarity between it and the cancelled Justice League game is the fact that both use DC characters:

Perhaps the Justice League game getting cancelled was something of a blessing in disguise, especially since Injustice turned out to be a fantastic fighting game. Then again, you never know: there's always a chance that a similar title could be attached to the upcoming movie.

At the very least, DC fans actually have proof of Justice League's existence - that'll have to do for now.
