Researchers from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CHSL) in New York have recently found a potential experimental cure to treat one of the deadliest types of brain cancer, Glioblastoma. This aggressive brain tumor that grows at a rapid rate causes death to its patients and despite the many treatments present, there are no sure ways to get rid of it, until now.
Glioblastoma Cure: New Potential Weakness Explored by Research
A recently published research via Nature's journal found a way to look for Glioblastoma's "achilles heel," a soft spot or weakness of the life-threatening disease. The research entitled "BRD8 maintains glioblastoma by epigenetic reprogramming of the p53 network" details how this procedure works, one where it impedes its rapid growth and development in one's grey matter.
The researchers discovered a protein called BRD8 which packages a human's genome. Should this become highly active in its function, it causes Glioblastoma (GBM).
It also impedes the P53 protein's function as a tumor-suppressing material in the body, one that helps stop this disease.
This study found Glioblastoma's root, and with that, it aims to develop smaller cells to suppress the BRD8 and prevent it from causing the disease to manifest in the brain.
Previous treatment of Glioblastoma includes surgery and going under chemotherapy treatment.

What is Glioblastoma and How can it be Detected?
According to Interesting Engineering, the researchers said that Glioblastoma is deadly because it is not easily detected by modern tools used by medical professionals. It only reveals itself late in its progression, which may already be at its progressive stages.
Moreover, it is hard to treat GBM as it takes on different forms that make it hard to detect it, with most cases having different treatments for it.
Cures for Cancer by Modern Research
Technology helped the world in multiple ways, and it includes looking for cures for certain diseases that are known for their notorious cases of being untreatable or gave earlier medical cases a hardship to remove. With the modern tools and instruments that researchers and medical professionals have now, the likes of detecting it and having cancer reveal itself are available for use.
It is true that while modern technology is advanced, there is still a need for in-depth studies to develop certain types of cures or treatments and other forms of preventive medicine.
There are certain methods for the public to prevent themselves from catching certain diseases, even cancer, but this uncontrollable cell growth is still notorious for its manifestation to just about anyone. With this, researchers find numerous ways to create cures and some resort to creating tiny worms to kill cancer cells inside the body and rid of the disease.
In CSHL's latest study, its main focus is the type of brain cancer that only reveals itself in the later stages of the disease, one that gives doctors a short time to prevent it from ending its host's life. Glioblastoma went a long time in marking the end of one's life, but this new research found a way to impede its development, to give people the opportunity to enjoy the future.
