"Death Stranding" received massive news today, and it centers on two significant projects in the franchise that will soon deliver a live-action video game adaptation to a movie, and the game's second installation. Kojima Productions will have a busy holiday season this year, especially with the company's full-feature film coming soon to the world.
While the original game's graphics and look already seem cinematic and one that could pass as a movie, there are still many who hope for its adaptation to the big screen.
'Death Stranding' Movie Adaptation is Coming Soon
Deadline reported that Kojima Productions is partnering with Hammerstone Studios, particularly with "Barbarian" executive producer Alex Levobici.
"I couldn't be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios," said Kojima in a statement.
This film is something that the Japanese director has been looking forward to, centering on its transition to a movie from a video game.
"This is a pivotal moment for the franchise and I'm really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing DEATH STRANDING to the big screen."
However, the cast is still unknown for this project, especially with the massive Hollywood names including Norman Reedus, Léa Seydoux, and Mads Mikkelsen for starters. According to PCGamesN, the movie is on a "fast track."
'Death Stranding 2' Confirmed for the PS5
On another note, Kojima Production also confirmed the sequel game, "DEATH STRANDING 2," one that would exclusively release for the PlayStation 5.
The game is already in development and the company brought its official teaser trailer at the recent The Game Awards 2022.
'Death Stranding' and its Franchise
Following the esteemed Japanese games developer and director's departure from Konami, came one of the critically-acclaimed video games of our generation, "Death Stranding." The game instantly became one of the largest titles in its 2019 release, centering on haunting graphics and an extraterrestrial experience for its overall development.
After the game's release and people already finishing it, "Death Stranding" left people wanting more for its pivotal development and storytelling that ties up the entire game.
Kojima's early works with Konami's "Silent Hill" only showed that he already mastered the horror action genre, with his game from his self-named production company receiving massive praise before. Early rumors of the sequel game kept the fire burning for the franchise, with many hints from the director for its development.
Now, these rumors were confirmed by the company, centering on an upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive, "Death Stranding 2," alongside a live-action adaptation also coming to the world. With the movie on a fast-track production from Kojima Productions alongside Hammerstone Studios, the hype and expectations are rising for its release.
