Users will soon be able to play Resident Evil Village in VR mode, as PlayStation and Capcom are set to release downloadable content during the same launch date for PlayStation VR 2.
VR Mode in Resident Evil
Capcoms' Kanda Tsuyoshi announced via PlayStation blog that Resident Evil Village's VR mode will be available for free as downloadable content, along with the release of PlayStation VR 2 on February 22nd. Users will be able to play the game immediately once they obtain the PSVR2.
Village's VR mode will utilize the vivid graphics of a 4K HDR display (2000x2400 per eye) and eye tracking with a heightened perception of reality. 3D audio will also enhance the game as it offers realism from every angle.
Through PSVR2's new Sense controllers, users will be able to "feel the vibration, recoil, and resistance as you interact with objects in the world and fire weapons," as Tsuyoshi described. Aside from this, it also enables intuitive movements such as arm-raising when pointing a gun to shoot and holding two weapons at the same time.
The Verge reported that Village's VR mode is only available in the main campaign, which means that users will not be able to use the game in Mercenaries mode or Shadows of Rose, as confirmed by Capcom Spokesperson Kyle Burleson.
Tsuyoshi also noted that Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition is required to play this free downloadable content (must be downloaded separately). He added, "We hope that you will challenge yourself with this ultimate immersive survival horror experience".

Game Rant reported that Resident Evil Village is the latest installment of the long-running series. This was released last year and directly follows the story in RE7: Biohazard. Ethan Winters will be traveling to a mysterious village to rescue his kidnapped daughter.
PSVR2 and Other Launch Titles
PlayStation VR 2 launches on the same date as the game mode for Resident Evil Village, which will be on February 22nd. This will only work for PS5 players and starts at $549.99. Despite the VR headset itself will include Sense controllers and stereo headphones, a charging station for the controller will be sold separately at $49.99.
Last September, Sony Senior Vice President Hideaki Nishino hinted that the PSVR2 aims to take the next generation branding to the next level, which will change the experience for both gamers and developers with new titles and features.
Aside from Resident Evil Village, other launch titles will also be on the release date, including the sword-fighting multiplayer game The Tale of Onogoro, rhythm game Kizuna AI - Touch the Beat!, and the flagship launch title, Horizon Call of the Mountain.
